Upon the Release of his new project 21117, the young and hungry Jay VerZe linked up with The Quality Vibe and awnsered a few questions about his career, upcoming project , and more. Peep the interview today!

QV: Where are you from?
JV: I was born in raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Owings Mills to be exact; It’s a county inside of Baltimore. This area has really made me who I am today; it’s where everything originated from; from my music, friends, everything .
QV: Explain The Name.
JV: The name really derived from me just having a love with music you know? Every verse I write, every song I write has its significance to my life. They are all special and mean something to me, so I wanted to make that a part of my character and what I’m known for. Also I wanted to have a significant way of spelling it. I’m a creative dude, so I felt like adding the Z to “VerZe” would make me stand out rather from the typical spelling of the word.
People who aren’t closed to me or haven’t really got the chance to know me may not have known that my middle name is Jaron, and I always wanted to put my middle name into use. So I felt like it would be perfect to make it short and go with“Jay”. Basically you can say my middle name and my love for writing verses got married and now you have “Jay Verze” hahaha .
QV: What makes you stand out from the competition?
JV: What separates me from the competition? Honestly … I think what separates me from the competition is my work ethic. I’m a young dude; I still live with my parents … But if you’ve seen me work, You would think that I have a wife and 3 kids to provide for seeing as how hard I work. Whether it’s before a show, in the studio, or onset of a video shoot; I’m a really hard worker. I’m always thinking of ways to help me get to the next level with my music. Of course I have a team around me, but ever since I was 7; I had that drive to get out there and earn what I want. I’m glad I was possessed with this mindset at a young age because a lot of people these days expect handouts from people instead of working hard for something … and that’s why they end up failing at the end.
QV: Talk about your upcoming project?
JV: Yeah man. my upcoming project is titled “21117 (TwoElevenSeventeen)”, It releases August 17th, 2012. You asked earlier where I was from. This is it! “21117” . 21117 is Owings mills Zip code, it’s the county I was raised in. Like I said earlier, it’s where everything originated. If it wasn’t for this place, I wouldn’t have met the people I know now, and I wouldn’t be in the same position I am now, musically wise and just speaking for me as a person you know?
But yeah, 21117 is my upcoming project … I call it a project because I don’t want to sell it short or call it something it’s not. It’s not a mixtape or an album; but people can take it for whatever they want. If I had to describe it, I would label it as like a musical learning experience you know what I’m saying? Like … I’m giving you insight on everything that I’ve learned up to this point, and I’m letting you know how I got there. The tape really has a variety of tracks for everyone to listen to. It reaches a lot of different crowds. If you like hype or party music, I got something for that. If you like a deep message, I got something for that. If you simply like something you can kick back to or ride in the car with the windows down on a nice summer day, I got something for that too. I try to make mood music; music that suits how people feel. I like to think of music as medicine, if you’re feeling a type of way. I want my music to assist you with that situation.

QV: Whats life like being 16 and pursuing a rap career?
JV: Hahaha I mean its fun man … I love my life honestly. I wouldn’t change anything. I’m still in High School (Going into my senior year), of course people ask me “What, you think you gone be a famous rapper”? I always laugh it off and keep going. Negativity is bound to happen; it comes with the territory; that’s just how teenagers and young kids are man … Some may not be open minded enough to see it or understand it, or they just don’t want to understand it. Silence is golden … I don’t have to prove anything to anybody; I let my achievements do that for me. But being young in the game has it’s positives and negatives. Positives because i have time to really brand and build a foundation for myself, the negative side is that sometimes people may not take me seriously because of my age … But i believe doubters will calm down once they see how hard i work and how dedicated i am to music.
QV: What message do you want to cross over to your fans through your music?
JV: The main message I want to give to all my fans is that it’s more to life than what you’re used to seeing . It’s more to life than what you’re hearing … I try to give a positive message to my fans. I’m big on hard work and dedication. If you want something in life, stay dedicated, and go get it. People are quick to give up when things don’t go their way or when things don’t go right immediately. This goes for anything in life too; Music, Relationships, Sports, Anything … If you want to get something, work hard, be patient and have faith.
QV: How can the fans reach you?
