Quality Q and A: Lucille Ghatti
In a year where music is trending towards pop and electronic styles to appeal to the masses, some artist continue to keep R&B, Soul, and funk alive. Lucille Ghatti is one of those artist. Her style captures hints of all those genres and adds a unique twist with her choice of production which makes her style uniquely dope. In this Q&A, Lucille spoke to us about her influences, religion, and more.

QV: How long have you been doing music?
LG:I’ve been recording for a little under a year , writing and creating music my whole entire life.
QV: Your recent mixtapes High Grade, and high grade 2 both showcase the buddah on the cover art. Do you practice Buddhism? If so/ or does it influence your style of music?
LG:I practice and or believe in any positive religion , Siddartha also known as buddha is one of the most influential humans to me.

QV:Growing up in California can be beneficial for an artist pursuing a music career,in terms of access to managers, producers, labels, and etc. What has your experience been like being from California?
LG:I grew up in San diego and Oakland , and i was always in the house as a teenager crate digging, and discovering religion. When i got older , i moved to Orlando and thats where my musical curiosity spawned. I always knew i could sing, but i never knew other people would listen. I lived in orlando for about two years , began writing and recording and it led me back home to the bay area , which ultimately led me to Los Angeles. Its been wild since i’ve been here, very positive.
QV: Whats your setting preference when creating a record? Is there any necessary elements or people that have to be available during that process?
LG:Just a good beat , good production will bring out other realms of creative writing in me. I try my hardest to honor the producers beat when i sing over it. I want them to realize how much i admire the musical talent it takes to create music. I pay very close attention to all of the sounds in a song so when the song is written and performed , the composer should feel what i feel .
QV: What style/genres of music are you influenced from? Are there any specific artist that have inspired your musical career?
LG:Musically, the Jazz era from the beginning to its current state holds the highest influence on me, from new Orleans Swing, to the early 90’s Rhythm & blues. The Ohio Players, The Beatles, Gucci Mane, Patriece Rushen, Miles Davis, Feist, J. Dilla, and Sly are a few in particular who influence my sound.
QV: What’s next from you
LG:Keep watching, thats all i can say.
